ABACC Financial Ratios & Benchmarking Study Deep Dive
Wednesday, March 22, 2017, 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM EDT
Category: Focus Webinars

Christian Higher Education institutions are mission-driven organizations whose outcomes are measured in lives changed. The current regulatory and competitive environment makes it increasingly important for financial leadership to measure and monitor organizational data to inform financial management decisions. Applying data analysis tools helps leaders effectively track performance, understand key drivers, and incorporate operational insights to position the institution for financial stability and continued success. Financial leaders are challenged with connecting financial outcomes and operational performance. Performance is impacted by many internal and external factors. Most importantly, performance is driven by the mission of delivering opportunities for higher education integrated with a Christian world view to students while ensuring financial stability. The ABACC Data Warehouse turns data into information. Data is a group of facts, but facts that have no contextual meaning. By allowing those facts to be explored in the context of questions to which institutions need answers, the facts become meaningful answers. The Data Warehouse provides a way for ABACC member institutions to enter data about themselves to the secure system and then to analyze data in the system. It may be helpful to think of the Data Warehouse as having three major components: a survey component through which the member institutions enter data about themselves; a repository component where the data is stored; and an analytics component that allows ABACC members to ask questions about the data.

Learning Objectives - Attendees will be able to:

  • Convert data to useful information;
  • Compare performance to other similar institutions;
  • Examine data over time to identify emerging trends;
  • Make informed decisions about salaries, occupancy trends, facility usage, tuition charges, endowment investments, development campaigns, etc.
